Foundation Stage
All our nurseries are registered to provide the Department for Education & Skills Foundation Stage for early years. This provides a framework for planning and evaluating children’s development from three years old. This attracts Nursery Education Grant Funding for your child.
The Foundation Stage identifies “Stepping Stones” of achievement in 6 key areas of learning. Our Nursery Teachers plan activities by Term, week and day to ensure activities assist cross curriculum learning and support individual children’s interests and learning styles. Areas that are covered include Mathematics, Language and Literacy, Knowledge and Understanding of the world, Creative, Imaginative and Physical Development.
Parents and Families play an important role in their Childs learning. After your child turns 3 years of age, we organize an evening when you can visit the nursery to experience the type of things your child will be involved in and share how you can continue your Childs learning journey at home. These sessions are very popular because they strengthen the partnership between the nursery and your home setting to ensure your child has the best start to their education.
The Team also continually evaluate your child’s progress, through weekly observations, which are bought together in an individual child profile. This helps us to assess your Childs strengths and identify next steps in their learning. We will meet with you Termly to share information on your Childs progress, significant achievements and to enable us to build successful home-school partnerships, helping your child to achieve to their greatest potential.
The DfES Foundation Stage Guidance and the Teacher’s planning is always available at the nursery and we welcome parents to view and contribute on specific topics. Outings are also very important for the older children and we organize a number of these linked to different topics throughout the year. Parents are always welcome to join in these special events alongside their child and nursery.
